Overview
Cumene is non-color liquid, Alkyl aromatic chemical compounds. As non-polar solvent, it dissolves in solvent such as Alchol, Carbon tetrachloride, Ether but does not dissolve in water.
Some are naturally formed from coal tar or oil, but most are compounded from reaction between Benzene and Propylene.
Usage
The biggest Usage of Cumene is to produce Phenol and Acetone. Cumene hydroperoxide, which is reaction intermediate during Phenol Process, is used to prohibit polymerization. In case of Dicumylperoxide, it is also used as Polymer initiator.
